Big South Branch and Mainstream of the Pere Marquette River

Meet at 9:00 am on Saturday March 23 at Custer Road Bridge and the Pere Marquette River

Join us for a late winter/early spring paddle on the Big South Branch and Mainstream of the Pere Marquette River. The Big South Branch is a remote Michigan river with numerous deadfall and portages but the wildness of its nature is attractive. We will meet at the bridge over the mainstream Pere Marquette River just south of US-10 in Custer at 9:00 am on the morning of Saturday March 23. We will run shuttle from there for a day paddle on the Big South Branch. This is not a beginner trip and can be physically challenging with the portages around deadfall. On Saturday night we will base camp at a nearby campground, and then on Sunday we will paddle the Mainstream Pere Marquette from Baldwin down to Bowman Bridge. As always, wearing a life jacket while on the river is a Club requirement, and a waiver must be signed if you have not already signed one as a Club member.
