Start at the Bruin Lake campgrounds, paddle the chain of lakes through Watson, Half Moon, and Hi-Land lakes in the Pinckney Recreation Area to Hell, where we will have lunch, and paddle back. The distance one way is about 3 1/2 to 4 miles on flat water, so this should be an easy and fun trip.
The launch point is at the Bruin Lake Campground in the Pinckney Recreation area. A DNR day pass or MI state park pass on your license plate sticker will be necessary to enter. Parking at the launch is somewhat limited, so I encourage carpooling on this trip.
We will meet at the park-n-ride at Okemos Rd and I-96 that Saturday morning at 9 AM. This is on the northwest corner of that intersection, behind the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Please arrive early, and be ready to leave at 9. Allow time to move boats and gear if necessary.
Once at the launch point, we will meet up with Jay’s canoe camping group, and paddle together to the Dam Site Inn for lunch, then back. The drive from Okemos to the launch point will take about 1 hour.
Directions to the launch point will be posted soon. In the meantime, the launch point GPS coordinates are N 42 25.338, W 84 02.450.
As with all LOAPC trips, PFDs are mandatory, and must be worn while on the water. All participants are required to sign a LOAPC liability waiver before participating. Please RSVP so that I have an accurate count of the people attending. Trip Coordinator: Tony Kuhlman firstname.lastname@example.org.
