Drowning Prevention “It’s up to you!”

More than 10 people drown every day in the United States. The lakes, rivers and open water areas we love so much account for 65% of the drownings of adults (14 years and older). Simple steps can prevent a needless tragedy where we recreate. Whether you are a seasoned paddler; charging class 5 rapids or a rank beginner in a backyard pond this session will better prepare you for an emergency. Paddling season is just around the corner; make this your safest season ever.

In this powerful 45 min. power-point presentation you will learn: Where people drown and why, more importantly; how you can prevent drowning. It will dispel the myth of hypothermia. You will learn what a drowning victim looks like (different than you probably believe).

About the presenter:

Bob Pratt is the National Drowning Prevention Alliances 2011 Lifesaver of the Year. He is a water safety expert who has spoken nationally about drowning prevention. A retired firefighter/ paramedic he is currently the educational director of the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project. His lively and energetic presentation style makes even a morbid subject like drowning enjoyable.
