Au Sable River September 23-25

I am coordinating the 3rd and last leg of the trip down the Au Sable River this year. We will be meeting and camping Friday night September 23 at Rollways Campground near Alcona, MI. http://www.fs.usda.go… Saturday September 24 we will run shuttle up to Au Sable Loop access and float back with overnight camping on the river. You will need to bring everything you need to eat and sleep overnight in the woods.

Labor Day Dragon Boat Paddle

Mesage from Pat Harrington:
Check the details – the video is easy and simple, you get to create and register your own team – they provide the boat.  Can you get along with 20 paddlers in one boat at one time?
I know some of us are committed to other river or non-river events in other places – but if you know of anyone to send this to, this could be great fun…  And, if it gets enough success then we can hope for next year when we put together a team led by The Smith Brothers of Portland & get this trophy to put next to some of Verlen’s, (you gotta know that Verlen would be involved in this Dragon Boat thing in person).

Family Paddle Weekend Trip on the Au Sable River August 26-28

I will be coordinating the Family Paddle Weekend Trip on the Au Sable River August 26-28, 2011. We will be base camping Friday and Saturday nights at Au Sable Loop National Forest Campground (click here) http://www.fs.usda.go… We will run shuttle upstream on Saturday morning at 9:00 am to Parmalee Access, and have lunch at Camp 10 Bridge. We will paddle across Mio Pond after lunch and portage the dam before floating back to our campsites. Sunday we will run shuttle down river to either McKinley or FR4001 depending on people’s plans and time. Expect about 6 hours of paddling on Saturday and 4-6 hours on Sunday depending on how far you wish to go. Email if you have any questions.
