Gull River, Ontario July 16-17

Gull River – July 16-17 The Gull River at the Minden Wild Water Preserve is a natural river bed with engineered and natural features. It has everything from flat water to class IV whitewater, with good class II and III whitewater and a terrific play wave for freestyle boaters. See their web page at: We’ll be car-camping at the preserve campground ($15 Cdn/night), but there are local hotels available if you’d rather go deluxe. We plan to eat breakfast and dinner in camp, but there are some local restaurants if you’d rather eat out. We’ll meet on Saturday morning in the campground to go paddling. The venue has opportunities for all skill levels and all kinds of whitwater boats, from freestyle to tandem open canoe and even flat water at the bottom to work on strokes and rolls. Participants are expected to provide all of their own gear which includes but is not limited to: a whitewater boat with adequate secure flotation, life jacket, helmet, paddle, and spray skirt for kayaks. The water temperature is relatively warm, as the release comes from the top of the dam, but adequate clothing for being in the water is still required. Contact Todd Leigh (517-712-9083, for more information.
