LOAPC’s first winter program of 2009, “Paddling the Au Sable River from Grayling to Oscoda,” will be presented by Loretta Crum on Tuesday, January 20, 7:00 p.m. at Summit Sports in East Lansing.
The slideshow will recap LOAPC’s series of weekend trips on the Au Sable in 2008, which broke the Grayling to Oscoda stretch into four chunks of two days each. This summer, we will be making the same trip but as a full eight-day wilderness voyage with self-contained camping from canoe or kayak. In this presentation, we want to show you that you don’t have to go to Canada to have a remote wilderness paddling trip experience. The Au Sable is perfect for extended backcountry paddling–you just have to know the river and use your knowledge to stay clear of the crowds.
Summit Sports is located at 2650 East Grand River in East Lansing, at the corner of Park Lake Road, phone 517-332-4000. The presentation is free and the public is welcome. Hope to see you there.
