The Harris Nature Center is organizing a community canoe event on Saturday, September 27 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Please click on the link to access contact information and the registration form. redcedar_paddle08

The Lansing Oar and Paddle Club will be assisting with advice and safety on the river.  LOAPC members have been active all summer clearing the river of obstructions and improving access.  Now we will be helping with loading and unloading boats as well as periodically patrolling the river as people float downstream.  Please contact me with your availability to participate in this event as part of LOAPC!

  1. Wow, the recent rains really rocketed up the water levels! I will be on the river this Saturday September 20 to recheck that everything is clear. I have some people from LOAPC helping on the 27th but could use just a couple more. If you are interested in taking a look at the river on the 20th let me know.

  2. Wow is right. The RC crested at 1,000 cfs (normal this time of year is 70) and is back down to 800 as of Friday the 19th. We have a week for it to get back down to beginner level.

I can be there on the 27th, can’t make it tomorrow though.
